Multivariate Monotone Location Estimators
نویسنده
چکیده
A notion of monotonicity of multivariate location estimators is introduced. The relationships between this notion and other existing notions are discussed. Finite sample breakdown point properties of multivariate monotone location estimators are investigated. It turns out that the breakdown points of typical multivariate monotone location estimators are independent of the configuration of underlying observations and play an important role in the characterization of these estimators. Tail behavior of multivariate monotone location estimators is explored with respect to a finite sample “tail behavior” measure. Relationships among monotonicity, equivariance and high breakdown point of multivariate location estimators are discussed.

The Maximum Likelihood Estimators in a Multivariate Normal Distribution with Ar(1) Covariance Structure for Monotone Data
The maximum likelihood estimators are uniquely obtained in a multivariate normal distribution with AR(1) covariance structure for monotone data. The maximum likelihood estimator of mean is unbiased.
متن کاملA New Bridge Between Fuzzy Sets and Statistics
Our basic question is as follows: given a, maybe multivariate, probability distribution, how to formalize the idea that some points are more central than others? We present an account of the notion of centrality which is based on fuzzy events and is valid for single distributions and for families of distributions (including imprecise probability models). This unifying framework is natural and s...
متن کاملAn extended class of minimax generalized Bayes estimators of regression coefficients
We derive minimax generalized Bayes estimators of regression coefficients in the general linear model with spherically symmetric errors under invariant quadratic loss for the case of unknown scale. The class of estimators generalizes the class considered in Maruyama and Strawderman (2005) to include non-monotone shrinkage functions. AMS subject classification: Primary 62C20, secondary 62J07
متن کاملThe Stein phenomenon for monotone incomplete multivariate normal data
We establish the Stein phenomenon in the context of two-step, monotone incomplete data drawn from Np+q(μ,Σ), a (p+ q)-dimensional multivariate normal population with mean μ and covariance matrix Σ. On the basis of data consisting of n observations on all p+q characteristics and an additional N − n observations on the last q characteristics, where all observations are mutually independent, denot...
متن کاملDegrees of freedom and model selection in semiparametric additive monotone regression
The degrees of freedom of semiparametric additive monotone models are derived using results about projections onto sums of order cones. Two important related questions are also studied, namely, the definition of estimators for the parameter of the error term and the formulation of specific Akaike Information Criteria statistics. Several alternatives are proposed to solve both problems and simul...
